I consoled myself by saying that as long as I could get enough orders to compensate for the booth fee I lost, it would be okay. And wouldn't you know it, the moment I passed out some of my new business cards at work, I got some orders. Enough to cover my booth fee. So then, I didn't feel so bad. Maybe next year with that event.
In that moment, I realized that paying for craft shows really isn't working for me this year. My days are too crowded and my weekends too unpredictable right now. So this year I decided to be content with trying to round up some custom orders. So I made up a batch of flyers to go with the new business cards. Some were distributed at local businesses; others given to friends to take to work. We'll see what happens.
So, thankfully, during this time, I was able to vend with someone else at a local parade. Made some sales/profit and received more feedback on my work. And one thing I learned is this: I need to make scarves for the little people. One of the cutest little boys kept asking, "Do you have anything in my size?" He wanted a scarf for a 3-year old. Let's give him what he wants. Shall we?
