Needless to say, I was ready for my run. One of the first scriptures that came to mind as I prepared for my jog was this: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication...." (Philippians 4:6 NKJV) That's me - the anxious type. But this time, I decided that I would just do this thing. I wasn't going to continually look at my app to see when the next time I was going to have to walk or how much time there was left in this jog. Instead I would just do the walk/jog thing. And guess what? Whether I look ahead or not, unless the app just crashes, I know that I'm going to walk, then jog, then walk, then jog, etc. I didn't even worry about how long each part of the new routine would be. And it felt good.
I recently purchased this armband which helped in not looking forward to see what was going to happen next:

Jogging gives me a chance to clear my mind, not like any other type of exercise I've ever engaged myself in. I play my inspirational songs in the background and take those minutes to pray, or talk to God in my mind, or just listen to the lyrics of the music. This time I didn't even concern myself about how far I jogged. After all, as the Milton Brunson song goes, "The race is not given to the swift nor to the strong, but to the one that endureth until the end." I just wanted to achieve the goal set for this Day 1, and I did....without shin splints. lol
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. :-)

Happy Monday,

Hang in there. Good luck with the new school year. It must be hard to get back in the working groove.
ReplyDeleteHi Libby. Good for you for sticking with this program. I admire that. I am your newest Network Blogger and GFC follower. I wanted to thank you for stopping by last week and leaving me a sweet comment about the Green Packaging Solutions. We used to wrap gifts in the funny papers too. Now, I don't get the newspaper, but I buy a lot of groceries ;-) Anyway, I hope you'll stop by again and maybe even "follow me" back. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Nici
