Now, I can finally make some sense out of my craft room makeover project. And here's partly how - a local card shop is going out of business. 25 years. Although it's sad, I have been able to receive a blessing for my business because of it. The owner sold me some store fixtures for (get this) $10. Yes! I make cards, they sold cards, so finding an adequate way to display them is absolutely possible. Plus it will add more to the look I'm going for in my craft room as well as for vending opportunities.
Here is the card rack in use:
I also purchased a 4-tiered turn-around cart from the card shop that used to hold stuffed animals. I'm contemplating painting it, but for now, it will remain red and it currently holds all of my unused skeins of yarns, in particular the specialty yarns. You know I still have big skeins of baby yarn and school colored yarn in a bucket. Having my yarns on display makes me feel that I'm in a LYS (local yarn shop) and it helps me to focus and use what I have.
Sorting through my stash made me realize how my tastes have changed and how much I long to be a bit of a minimalist. (I can't truly be a minimalist when I'm busy hoarding scraps and such in an effort to repurpose, recycle and such, but I digress.) In an effort to truly work with what's working for me right now, I've decided to have a destash sale in my Etsy shop. So coming really soon, I will be placing yarns and fabrics in my shop at a much discounted price. I just need them to go, go, go to a new home. :-)
What else is new? I will be doing a furniture makeover project that I'm excited about, and I have been commissioned to make some blankets for 2 babies on the way. I purchased the fabrics for those two projects and one more on yesterday. As soon as I bring this craft space under control this weekend and watch a few tutorials on how to create what I have in mind, I'll be on my way.
I wish you could feel the softness. Ahhhh.....
Have a great weekend,

You are so organized! I need to take note of this.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer holidays!
Me organized? That truly made me laugh out loud! LOL
DeleteOh yes, you are! Laugh as loud as you want, if you ever see my house you will cry. lol
DeleteHow fun to walk into your craft room and feel like your are in a shop! Great score on the fixtures.
ReplyDeleteWhat great fixtures you scored! It is so sad seeing small businesses close their doors. Between the internet and super stores they do not have much of a chance these days. :( Enjoy your summer months! I always wondered what it would be like to teach and have summers off for hobbies.
ReplyDeleteBeing a 10-month employee does have it's perks, but 10-months of working also means only 10 months with pay. During the summers is when you regroup, rest hopefully, pursue those things you've had to put off for the most part during the year, but it's also the time that you have to 'work' to prepare for the coming year (even though you aren't paid to do so). If you don't start early, then you will most likely not last long during the year. Now you know the real secret. :-)
Deletelove the look of your craft room and the pics are incredible. I need to get it together & organized lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a score, Libby! I am in the process of organizing..although it seems that I always am, this time I am trying to make access simpler, these racks are perfect! I hope you get to enjoy what little "actual off" time you do have! Aloha, Connie
ReplyDeleteThe $10 steal! That's awesome! And it looks great in front of your wall like that. I love the basket that the yarns are sitting in as well. Girl, you are making that into a craft spa! :)
