AE: Who are you?
MA: My name is Marcus Kwame Anderson. I'm a teacher and artist who lives in New York's capital region.
AE: What is it that you do/make?
AE: What is it that you do/make?
MA: I make paintings, drawings and comics. I work in many media, but most frequently I work in acrylic, watercolor and india ink.
AE: How did you get started/What is the motivation behind your work?
MA: I started making art at a very young age. I was always drawn to colors. To this day I use a lot of color in my art. I love using it to convey moods and ideas. I had some very supportive art teachers when I was growing up. I took in everything that they taught me and did a lot of artwork on my own at home, in homeroom, classes, wherever. My art is often made with the intention of making people think. I try to say something through my art. I believe the arts can be a powerful vehicle for change.
AE: Where can we find your work?
AE: What is your website/contact information?
MA: You can stay updated on where my work will be on my website. I sell my work at art fairs from time to time. I also show in various galleries and cafes. And of course you can find my work online and in my etsy store.

Amazing diverse artwork! I love his Marcus' style! The giraffe put a smile on my face with the unexpected knit hat and scarf. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteVery powerful statements in the last two. The site shows him painting on a very large-scale, heroic painting sized surface. But these feel like they are very personal. Intriguing!
